Are Cherries the answer to better postpartum sleep habits?

One of the most common complaints from post partum moms and parents for that matter is the lack of sleep. Sleep deprevation is a natural effect of bringing home a new baby. New schedules are being created and the infant is now running your life! Whoa, we're in for a ride folks! Let's discuss cherries! Cherries happen to be one of my favorite fruits. They are small, dark, sweet and juicy! How can anyone not like cherries? It's beyond me.

Sleep deprevation is the direct result of unbalanced hormones, excess stress and a busy mind. In a study found on Natural Medicine Jouranl participants drank 30ml of cherry juice 30 minutes before their evening meal boosting their exogenous melatonin intake by 85mcg per day. Cherries are naturally high in Melatonin which aids in sleep. The results werre astonishing. There were significant increases in time in bed, total time sleep and sleep efficiecy. Before you reach for the sleeping pills maybe you want to give some fresh cherries a try!
